How many Parental Pals are there right now and what are they looking for ?

Statistics can be - although often seen as the essence of bureaucracy - an interesting thing. What we do here is new and we find it tremendously exciting! For the record and for our community as well as for all interested members of the press and other media we shall keep a running account of what’s happening ...

It is touching to see that most parents have a much clearer definition of what they can offer and would like to share than what they might want to search for!
The case studies section appears to be helpful and we are confident it can be filled with a lot more good content - we are ready for loads of good stories and interesting matches !

We are reconsidering some of our strategies of spreading the word, the feedback we have been getting so far supplies us with surprising facts: We had anticipated that the majority of applicants would come out of social circles with higher education. But that’s not necessarily so: so far exactly half of our members have an academic background, the other half does not (although a strong majority of them wants their kids to go to university). Global minds are obviously much more a question of attitude than of educational levels, which is of course good news.

The Stats shown here will be updated regularly and will go into more detail - always in relation to what is of interest to existing members and those who are considering to join us.

demographic breakdown

For detailed information on all aspects of a country consult the CIA Factbook -
it provides high quality profiles and in-depth analysis.
There are excellent country profiles on the BBC’s site too (including media!).

Last update of statistics: July 22, 2010

A word regarding membership numbers: we are aiming to reach genuine locals as much as expats. So far the figures shown in the statistics are somewhat misguiding since we still have a long way to go towards this balance; a good example are the United Arab Emirates with a current total of 188 members, 179 of them being expats. Similar the situation in China, India or Brazil, so we particularly appreciate all help and advice on how we might connect with permanent residents too.

Thanks in advance for your valued input !
